About the Trust
Swapan Sarkar Memorial Trust is a public charitable trust created by a Deed of Trust registered at the office of the Additional Registrar of Assurances-I, Kolkata (Deed No. IV-190100273/2023, dated 11 August 2023). The Trust was founded by Syeda Shamima Nasrin in loving memory of Late Swapan Kumar Sarkar, to carry forward his philanthropic and progressive ideals.

Our Mission
To serve society without any distinction of caste, creed or sex, and to use the income and property of the Trust solely for the promotion of its charitable objects.
Our Objectives
- To celebrate every year the birthday of Swapan Kumar Sarkar with honour and respect, and spread his spirit and ideas among the common people.
- To promote, encourage and extend the philanthropic and progressive ideologies of Swapan Kumar Sarkar.
- To establish and maintain public libraries for students of all streams and the general public at Birbhum and other places.
- To establish a fund for research on the betterment of the condition of women, and to provide stipends and scholarships.
- To establish and maintain educational institutions in the name of Swapan Kumar Sarkar, and to aid schools, colleges, hostels and libraries.
- To give scholarships and aid to poor and deserving students and scholars.
- To provide food, water, medical assistance, clothing and shelter to poor persons, and to grant aid to the poor, widows and orphans.
- To support hospitals, clinics, charitable dispensaries, mobile medical units, ambulances and medical & surgical camps for the poor, sick and infirm.
- To grant relief during earthquake, landslide, famine, flood, fire and other natural calamities.
- To set up rest houses, shelters and drinking water facilities, and to aid construction and repair of wells and tube-wells for public use.
- To publish journals, books and bulletins, and to hold meetings and conferences for the furtherance of these objects.
